Overview
The G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB is a 64GB DDR5 kit of 2 x 32GB modules, rated for 6,000 MT/s at 30-40-40-96 timings and 1.40V through its Intel XMP 3.0 profile. Trident Z5 RGB has a brushed aluminium heat spreader with a fin-shaped top and a full-length RGB light bar, offered here in silver, black or white.
It carries an Intel XMP 3.0 profile, so it is aimed at Intel Core Ultra 200S (LGA1851) and 12th to 14th Gen Core (LGA1700) boards; most AM5 boards can also load XMP profiles, but G.SKILL tests this kit for Intel. Without the profile it runs at the default 4800 MT/s at 1.10V; one BIOS setting brings it to 6,000 MT/s.
64GB is the comfortable amount for 2026: gaming with streaming or a browser full of tabs, 4K video editing and large creative projects. For local AI on the CPU, 64GB holds 7B to 32B models at 4-bit to 8-bit, and a 70B model at 4-bit (about 40GB) with a modest context.

Questions and answers

Will this kit work with my motherboard?
It fits any DDR5 desktop board. Its XMP 3.0 profile targets Intel LGA1851 and LGA1700; most AM5 boards also load XMP profiles, though G.SKILL validates this kit for Intel. It does not fit DDR4 boards.
How do I get the rated 6,000 MT/s?
Enable the Intel XMP 3.0 profile in the BIOS. Without it the kit runs at the default 4800 MT/s. Rated speeds depend on the CPU's memory controller and the board, so a small number of systems need a BIOS update or a slightly lower speed.
Does it have RGB lighting?
Yes. The light bar can be controlled from the RGB software of major motherboard makers (ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, ASRock) or from the memory maker's own software.
Is 64GB enough for local AI?
For local AI on the CPU, 64GB holds 7B to 32B models at 4-bit to 8-bit, and a 70B model at 4-bit (about 40GB) with a modest context.
Can I add another kit later?
Memory makers sell kits as matched sets and advise against mixing kits, even identical ones, because the modules are tested together. Buy the total capacity you want as one kit.
