Overview
The G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo is a 64GB DDR5 kit of 2 x 32GB modules, rated for 6,000 MT/s at 30-40-40-96 timings and 1.40V through its AMD EXPO and Intel XMP 3.0 profiles. This is the non-RGB Trident Z5 Neo: the same black aluminium heat spreader without lighting, for builds that should stay dark.
It carries both AMD EXPO and Intel XMP 3.0 profiles, so it suits Ryzen 7000 and 9000 (AM5) and Intel Core Ultra 200S (LGA1851) boards alike. Without the profile it runs at the default 4800 MT/s at 1.10V; one BIOS setting brings it to 6,000 MT/s.
64GB is the comfortable amount for 2026: gaming with streaming or a browser full of tabs, 4K video editing and large creative projects. For local AI on the CPU, 64GB holds 7B to 32B models at 4-bit to 8-bit, and a 70B model at 4-bit (about 40GB) with a modest context.

Questions and answers
Still unsure? Visit the help center or message us.
Will this kit work with my motherboard?
It fits DDR5 desktop boards and has profiles for both platforms: EXPO for AMD AM5 and XMP 3.0 for Intel LGA1851 and LGA1700. It does not fit DDR4 boards.
How do I get the rated 6,000 MT/s?
Enable the EXPO or XMP profile in the BIOS. Without it the kit runs at the default 4800 MT/s. Rated speeds depend on the CPU's memory controller and the board, so a small number of systems need a BIOS update or a slightly lower speed.
Does it have RGB lighting?
No. It has no lighting, which keeps the build dark and avoids any RGB software.
Is 64GB enough for local AI?
For local AI on the CPU, 64GB holds 7B to 32B models at 4-bit to 8-bit, and a 70B model at 4-bit (about 40GB) with a modest context.
Can I add another kit later?
Memory makers sell kits as matched sets and advise against mixing kits, even identical ones, because the modules are tested together. Buy the total capacity you want as one kit.
