Overview
The Patriot Viper Venom is a 16GB DDR5 kit of 2 x 8GB modules, rated for 6,000 MT/s at CL36 and 1.35V. Viper Venom has a black aluminium heat spreader with the Viper logo and no lighting. It was the lowest-priced in-stock 16GB DDR5-6000 kit at major US retailers in late October 2026.
It carries both AMD EXPO and Intel XMP 3.0 profiles, so it suits Ryzen 7000 and 9000 (AM5) and Intel Core Ultra 200S (LGA1851) and DDR5 LGA1700 boards alike. Without the profile it runs at the default 4,800 MT/s CL40 at 1.10V; one BIOS setting brings it to 6,000 MT/s. A second profile runs it at 5,600 MT/s at 1.25V for boards that are not stable at full speed.
16GB is the entry point for a 2026 gaming PC: most games run well, but large open-world games, streaming and a browser full of tabs can push past it. With DDR5 prices up sharply in 2026, a 2x8GB kit is the budget way into a new AM5 or Intel Core Ultra build; adding a second kit later is not recommended, so choose 32GB if the budget allows.

Will this kit work with my motherboard?
It fits DDR5 desktop boards and has profiles for both platforms: EXPO for AMD AM5 and XMP 3.0 for Intel LGA1851 and LGA1700. It does not fit DDR4 boards.
How do I get the rated 6,000 MT/s?
Enable the EXPO or XMP profile in the BIOS. Without it the kit runs at the default 4,800 MT/s CL40 at 1.10V. Rated speeds depend on the CPU's memory controller and the board, so a few systems need a BIOS update first.
Will it fit under my CPU cooler?
The modules are 43 mm tall, which suits liquid coolers and most tower coolers, but some large dual-tower air coolers overhang the memory slots; check the cooler's RAM clearance first.
Is 16GB enough?
16GB is the entry point for a 2026 gaming PC: most games run well, but large open-world games, streaming and a browser full of tabs can push past it. With DDR5 prices up sharply in 2026, a 2x8GB kit is the budget way into a new AM5 or Intel Core Ultra build; adding a second kit later is not recommended, so choose 32GB if the budget allows.
