Overview
The ASRock Radeon RX 9070 Challenger 16GB is ASRock's triple-fan Challenger RX 9070, which made Amazon US's top 10 graphics cards in September 2026. It has 3,584 stream processors and 16GB of GDDR6 on a 256-bit bus at 20 Gbps, for 640 GB/s of bandwidth. ASRock runs it at 2,520 MHz boost out of the box, the reference figure. It is built for 1440p at high refresh rates with FSR 4.
It is 290 mm long and 51 mm thick (about 2.5 slots) and takes two standard 8-pin cables. Board power is 220W (AMD reference; ASRock publishes no figure), ASRock recommends a 700W power supply, and it takes 2x 8-pin PCIe. For cooling it uses three fans with ultra-fit heat pipes, a nickel-plated copper base and 0dB fan stop. Other features: metal backplate, LED indicator with an on/off switch, Dr.MOS power stages and Japanese capacitors.
For local AI, 16GB holds 8B models at 8-bit and 12B to 14B models at 4-bit to 6-bit with a useful context window, and 640 GB/s of bandwidth sets how fast tokens come out. A 32B model at 4-bit needs about 20GB and will not fit entirely. AMD supports RDNA 4 in ROCm, and llama.cpp, Ollama and LM Studio run on it through ROCm or Vulkan; tools that only support CUDA will not run on it.

Questions and answers
Still unsure? Visit the help center or message us.
What power supply does the ASRock Radeon RX 9070 Challenger need?
ASRock recommends 700W, which allows for a high-end CPU as well. It uses 2x 8-pin PCIe, standard cables that most power supplies have.
Will the ASRock Radeon RX 9070 Challenger fit my case?
It is 290 mm long and 51 mm thick (about 2.5 slots) and takes two standard 8-pin cables.
Is 16GB enough for local AI?
For local AI, 16GB holds 8B models at 8-bit and 12B to 14B models at 4-bit to 6-bit with a useful context window, and 640 GB/s of bandwidth sets how fast tokens come out. A 32B model at 4-bit needs about 20GB and will not fit entirely.
Does it work with AI tools that need CUDA?
No. CUDA is NVIDIA-only. AMD supports RDNA 4 in ROCm, and llama.cpp, Ollama and LM Studio run on it through ROCm or Vulkan, so popular local-AI apps work, but tools written only for CUDA do not.
