Overview

The G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB is a 48GB DDR5 kit of 2 x 24GB modules, rated for 6,000 MT/s at 40-48-48-96 timings and 1.35V through its AMD EXPO and Intel XMP 3.0 profiles. It uses 24GB modules to reach 48GB in two DIMMs, more headroom than 32GB without the cost of 64GB, in G.SKILL's black Trident Z5 Neo RGB design.

It carries both AMD EXPO and Intel XMP 3.0 profiles, so it suits Ryzen 7000 and 9000 (AM5) and Intel Core Ultra 200S (LGA1851) boards alike. Without the profile it runs at the default 5600 MT/s at 1.10V; one BIOS setting brings it to 6,000 MT/s.

48GB gives a gaming or creator PC headroom past 32GB without the cost of 64GB, which helps with heavy multitasking, large photo libraries and 4K timelines. For local AI, 48GB holds a 14B model at 8-bit or a 32B model at 4-bit (about 20GB) in system memory with room left for apps.

Questions and answers

Still unsure? Visit the help center or message us.

Will this kit work with my motherboard?

It fits DDR5 desktop boards and has profiles for both platforms: EXPO for AMD AM5 and XMP 3.0 for Intel LGA1851 and LGA1700. It does not fit DDR4 boards.

How do I get the rated 6,000 MT/s?

Enable the EXPO or XMP profile in the BIOS. Without it the kit runs at the default 5600 MT/s. Rated speeds depend on the CPU's memory controller and the board, so a small number of systems need a BIOS update or a slightly lower speed.

Does it have RGB lighting?

Yes. The light bar can be controlled from the RGB software of major motherboard makers (ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, ASRock) or from the memory maker's own software.

Is 48GB enough?

48GB gives a gaming or creator PC headroom past 32GB without the cost of 64GB, which helps with heavy multitasking, large photo libraries and 4K timelines. For local AI, 48GB holds a 14B model at 8-bit or a 32B model at 4-bit (about 20GB) in system memory with room left for apps.

Can I add another kit later?

Memory makers sell kits as matched sets and advise against mixing kits, even identical ones, because the modules are tested together. Buy the total capacity you want as one kit.
