Overview

The G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB is a 32GB DDR5 kit of 2 x 16GB modules, rated for 6,000 MT/s at 30-40-40-96 timings and 1.35V through its Intel XMP 3.0 profile. Trident Z5 RGB has a black brushed aluminium heat spreader with a full-length RGB light bar.

It carries an Intel XMP 3.0 profile, so it is aimed at Intel Core Ultra 200S (LGA1851) and 12th to 14th Gen Core (LGA1700) boards; most AM5 boards can also load XMP profiles, but the maker tests this kit for Intel. Without the profile it runs at the default 4800 MT/s at 1.10V; one BIOS setting brings it to 6,000 MT/s.

32GB is the standard amount for a 2026 gaming PC: modern games, voice chat and a browser full of tabs run comfortably, and it handles 1080p and 1440p video editing. For local AI on the CPU, 32GB runs 7B to 8B models at 4-bit to 8-bit alongside the operating system and apps; larger models belong on a GPU or in a 64GB or bigger kit.

Questions and answers

Will this kit work with my motherboard?

It fits any DDR5 desktop board. Its XMP 3.0 profile targets Intel LGA1851 and LGA1700; most AM5 boards also load XMP profiles, though the maker validates this kit for Intel. It does not fit DDR4 boards.

How do I get the rated 6,000 MT/s?

Enable the XMP profile in the BIOS. Without it the kit runs at the default 4800 MT/s. Rated speeds depend on the CPU's memory controller and the board, so a small number of systems need a BIOS update or a slightly lower speed.

Does it have RGB lighting?

Yes. The light bar can be controlled from the RGB software of major motherboard makers (ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, ASRock) or from the memory maker's own software.

Is 32GB enough?

32GB is the standard amount for a 2026 gaming PC: modern games, voice chat and a browser full of tabs run comfortably, and it handles 1080p and 1440p video editing. For local AI on the CPU, 32GB runs 7B to 8B models at 4-bit to 8-bit alongside the operating system and apps; larger models belong on a GPU or in a 64GB or bigger kit.

Can I add another kit later?

Memory makers sell kits as matched sets and advise against mixing kits, even identical ones, because the modules are tested together. Buy the total capacity you want as one kit.
