Overview
The G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB is a single 64GB DDR5 module, rated for 6,000 MT/s at 34-44-44-96 timings and 1.35V through its AMD EXPO and Intel XMP 3.0 profiles. 64GB modules arrived in 2025, so one stick now gives a build 64GB; G.SKILL also sells the same module in matched pairs and sets of four for 128GB and 256GB.
It carries both AMD EXPO and Intel XMP 3.0 profiles, so it suits Ryzen 7000 and 9000 (AM5) and Intel Core Ultra 200S (LGA1851) boards alike. Without the profile it runs at the default 5600 MT/s at 1.10V; one BIOS setting brings it to 6,000 MT/s. 64GB modules need a motherboard BIOS dated 2025 or later with 64GB module support, so update the BIOS before installing.
64GB is the comfortable amount for 2026: gaming with streaming or a browser full of tabs, 4K video editing and large creative projects. For local AI on the CPU, 64GB holds 7B to 32B models at 4-bit to 8-bit, and a 70B model at 4-bit (about 40GB) with a modest context.

Will this kit work with my motherboard?
It fits DDR5 desktop boards and has profiles for both platforms: EXPO for AMD AM5 and XMP 3.0 for Intel LGA1851 and LGA1700. It does not fit DDR4 boards. 64GB modules also need a BIOS dated 2025 or newer.
How do I get the rated 6,000 MT/s?
Enable the EXPO or XMP profile in the BIOS. Without it the kit runs at the default 5600 MT/s. Rated speeds depend on the CPU's memory controller and the board, so a small number of systems need a BIOS update or a slightly lower speed.
Why does it need a 2025 BIOS?
64GB DDR5 modules arrived in 2025, and motherboards need a BIOS with support for them. Update to the latest BIOS before installing; older firmware may not boot or may see only part of the memory.
Is 64GB enough for local AI?
For local AI on the CPU, 64GB holds 7B to 32B models at 4-bit to 8-bit, and a 70B model at 4-bit (about 40GB) with a modest context.
Can I add another kit later?
Memory makers sell kits as matched sets and advise against mixing kits, even identical ones, because the modules are tested together. Buy the total capacity you want as one kit.
