Overview
The MSI GeForce RTX 5080 Gaming Trio OC 16GB is a triple-fan partner card built on NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5080, the second-fastest GeForce card after the RTX 5090. It has 10,752 CUDA cores and 16GB of GDDR7 on a 256-bit bus at 30 Gbps, for 960 GB/s of bandwidth. MSI runs it at 2,700 MHz boost out of the box and 2,715 MHz in Extreme Performance mode in MSI Center, against NVIDIA's 2,617 MHz reference figure. It is built for 4K gaming at high settings and high-refresh 1440p.
It is 338 mm long and 50 mm thick, so check your case's graphics card length limit; a support stand comes in the box to stop the card sagging. Board power is 360W (MSI), MSI recommends a 850W power supply, and it takes 1x 16-pin (12V-2x6). For cooling it uses TRI FROZR 4: three STORMFORCE fans with double ball bearings, ZERO FROZR fan stop, nickel-plated copper baseplate and square-core heat pipes. Other features: dual BIOS (Gaming / Silent), reinforced metal backplate, LED lighting, support stand included.
For local AI, 16GB holds 8B models at 8-bit and 12B to 14B models at 4-bit to 6-bit with a useful context window, and 960 GB/s of bandwidth sets how fast tokens come out. A 32B model at 4-bit needs about 20GB and will not fit entirely. CUDA support is broad, so PyTorch, llama.cpp, Ollama, LM Studio and ComfyUI run on it directly.

What power supply does the MSI GeForce RTX 5080 Gaming Trio OC need?
MSI recommends 850W, which allows for a high-end CPU as well. It uses 1x 16-pin (12V-2x6); use a native 12V-2x6 cable from an ATX 3.1 power supply where you can, and push the plug fully home.
Will the MSI GeForce RTX 5080 Gaming Trio OC fit my case?
It is 338 mm long and 50 mm thick, so check your case's graphics card length limit; a support stand comes in the box to stop the card sagging.
Is 16GB enough for local AI?
For local AI, 16GB holds 8B models at 8-bit and 12B to 14B models at 4-bit to 6-bit with a useful context window, and 960 GB/s of bandwidth sets how fast tokens come out. A 32B model at 4-bit needs about 20GB and will not fit entirely.
