Overview

The G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB is a 96GB DDR5 kit of 2 x 48GB modules, rated for 6,000 MT/s at 26-36-36-96 timings and 1.45V through its AMD EXPO profile. This is one of the lowest-latency 96GB kits sold: CL26 at 6000 MT/s, in G.SKILL's black Trident Z5 Neo RGB design.

It carries an AMD EXPO profile, so it is aimed at Ryzen 7000 and 9000 (AM5) boards. Without the profile it runs at the default 5600 MT/s at 1.10V; one BIOS setting brings it to 6,000 MT/s.

96GB suits heavy creative work, virtual machines and large datasets. For local AI on the CPU or alongside a GPU, 96GB holds a 70B model at 4-bit (about 40GB) with a long context and room for the operating system and apps.

Questions and answers

Still unsure? Visit the help center or message us.

Will this kit work with my motherboard?

It fits any DDR5 desktop board, and its EXPO profile targets AMD AM5 (Ryzen 7000 and 9000). Intel boards can run it at default speed or with manual settings. It does not fit DDR4 boards.

How do I get the rated 6,000 MT/s?

Enable the AMD EXPO profile in the BIOS. Without it the kit runs at the default 5600 MT/s. Rated speeds depend on the CPU's memory controller and the board, so a small number of systems need a BIOS update or a slightly lower speed.

Does it have RGB lighting?

Yes. The light bar can be controlled from the RGB software of major motherboard makers (ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, ASRock) or from the memory maker's own software.

Is 96GB enough for local AI?

For local AI on the CPU or alongside a GPU, 96GB holds a 70B model at 4-bit (about 40GB) with a long context and room for the operating system and apps.

Can I add another kit later?

Memory makers sell kits as matched sets and advise against mixing kits, even identical ones, because the modules are tested together. Buy the total capacity you want as one kit.
