Overview
The ASUS Prime Radeon RX 9070 XT OC is a triple-fan partner card built on AMD's RX 9070 XT: RDNA 4 with 64 compute units, 4,096 stream processors and 16GB of GDDR6 on a 256-bit bus, for up to 640 GB/s. ASUS runs it at up to 3,010 MHz boost out of the box and 3,030 MHz in OC mode, against AMD's 2,970 MHz reference figure. It is aimed at 1440p at high refresh rates and handles 4K with FSR upscaling.
It measures 312 x 130 x 50 mm and is 2.5 slots thick, with three 8-pin power connectors and a 750W power supply recommendation from ASUS, the same figure AMD gives. AMD's reference board power for the RX 9070 XT is 304W; ASUS does not publish a separate figure for this model. Cooling uses three Axial-tech fans and a phase-change GPU thermal pad, with fans that stop under light load, dual BIOS (Performance and Quiet), GPU Guard and a vented backplate. Outputs are one HDMI 2.1b and three DisplayPort 2.1a, and ASUS lists no Aura Sync lighting for this model.
For local AI, 16GB holds 8B models at 8-bit and 12B to 14B models at 4-bit to 6-bit with a decent context window, and llama.cpp runs on it through Vulkan, or through ROCm on supported Linux releases. Software that requires CUDA will not run.

What power supply does the Prime RX 9070 XT need?
ASUS recommends 750W for this model, the same figure AMD gives for the RX 9070 XT, and ASUS bases it on a fully overclocked CPU and GPU. The card takes three separate 8-pin PCIe connectors, so check that your power supply has three 8-pin outputs, ideally on separate cables.
Will the Prime RX 9070 XT fit my case?
It is 312 mm long, 130 mm tall and 50 mm thick (2.5 slots), which suits most mid-tower cases. Check your case's graphics card length limit and leave room above the card for three 8-pin cables before ordering.
How is the Prime different from the TUF Gaming RX 9070 XT?
Both use the same RX 9070 XT GPU with 16GB of GDDR6 and three 8-pin connectors. The Prime is smaller, 312 x 130 x 50 mm and 2.5 slots against 330 x 140 x 62.5 mm and 3.125 slots, and ASUS recommends 750W for it instead of 850W. The TUF is clocked slightly higher (up to 3,080 MHz boost in OC mode against 3,030 MHz) and adds ARGB lighting.
Which local AI models fit in 16GB of VRAM?
Roughly, 8B models at 8-bit and 12B to 14B models at 4-bit to 6-bit, with a decent context window. A 32B model at 4-bit needs around 20GB and will not fit entirely.
Can it run CUDA software?
No. CUDA is NVIDIA-only. For AI work, llama.cpp runs on this card through Vulkan, and ROCm builds of PyTorch and llama.cpp work on supported Linux releases, but software that requires CUDA will not run.
