Overview
The Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB is Sapphire's Pulse RX 9070 XT, a reference-clocked triple-fan card known for running quiet and cool. It has 4,096 stream processors and 16GB of GDDR6 on a 256-bit bus at 20 Gbps, for 640 GB/s of bandwidth. Sapphire runs it at 2,970 MHz boost out of the box, the reference figure. It is built for 1440p at high refresh rates and 4K with FSR 4.
It is 320 mm long and three slots thick, so it needs a mid-tower or larger case, and it takes two standard 8-pin cables. Board power is 304W (Sapphire), Sapphire recommends a 750W power supply, and it takes 2x 8-pin PCIe. For cooling it uses Tri-X: three two-ball-bearing fans with AeroCurve blades, composite heat pipes and Honeywell PTM7950 phase-change thermal pad. Other features: 14-phase power, metal backplate, FrameDefense frame, fuse protection, L-shaped support bracket included.
For local AI, 16GB holds 8B models at 8-bit and 12B to 14B models at 4-bit to 6-bit with a useful context window, and 640 GB/s of bandwidth sets how fast tokens come out. A 32B model at 4-bit needs about 20GB and will not fit entirely. AMD supports RDNA 4 in ROCm, and llama.cpp, Ollama and LM Studio run on it through ROCm or Vulkan; tools that only support CUDA will not run on it.

Questions and answers
Still unsure? Visit the help center or message us.
What power supply does the Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 9070 XT need?
Sapphire recommends 750W, which allows for a high-end CPU as well. It uses 2x 8-pin PCIe, standard cables that most power supplies have.
Will the Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 9070 XT fit my case?
It is 320 mm long and three slots thick, so it needs a mid-tower or larger case, and it takes two standard 8-pin cables.
Is 16GB enough for local AI?
For local AI, 16GB holds 8B models at 8-bit and 12B to 14B models at 4-bit to 6-bit with a useful context window, and 640 GB/s of bandwidth sets how fast tokens come out. A 32B model at 4-bit needs about 20GB and will not fit entirely.
Does it work with AI tools that need CUDA?
No. CUDA is NVIDIA-only. AMD supports RDNA 4 in ROCm, and llama.cpp, Ollama and LM Studio run on it through ROCm or Vulkan, so popular local-AI apps work, but tools written only for CUDA do not.
